MOGADISHU: Around 11 citizens were killed Sunday when a suicide attacker rammed a car laden with explosives into a government convoy at a busy junction in the Somali capital city, police mentioned.
“A number of individuals have been murdered, the blast was large, we are gathering information but the number of those murdered is around 11,” police official Mohamed Adan said.
The blast is the most recent in a string of bloody attacks in the seaside capital, where Al-Qaeda linked Shebab insurgents have vowed to topple the government and have set off many bombs and introduced guerrilla-style strikes.
Adan said that the people inside the armoured government car targeted by the attacker had survived. It was not quickly clear who the passengers were.
